Job Description:

The Ergonomist will be a part of the ergonomics team at Giga Factory Texas. This role will help in implementing, and continuously improving ergonomics and other EHS initiatives/programs within the Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Management System framework. They will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental health & safety regulations, and ensure conformance to internal Tesla standards, and industry/consensus standards as appropriate.

* From an ergonomics perspective - manage multiple vehicle programs from various stages of development including introduction/installation and production while collaborating with a cross-functional team of Engineering, Controls, Manufacturing, Production, Design, and Test teams

* Perform ergonomics risk assessments and facilitate the design of feasible solutions to minimize injury risk

* Ensure EHS milestones are completed and accounted for when equipment and processes are introduced/launched in the manufacturing spaces. Scope of projects range from existing processes, completely new product programs to mid-model refreshes

* Participate/Lead post-injury analysis to determine contributing factors and recommend controls to address the contributing factors by following the hierarchy of controls

* Participate/Lead post-injury analysis using a Learning Teams approach, ensuring that preventative actions address system causes and not solely individual behaviors

* Provide regular incident trends and analysis to ensure stakeholders understand key risks and provide a plan to close any gaps identified; Assist with field work EHS-impacts oversight, participating in pre-job/task planning and verification of controls/safeguards before starting work

* Implement and support EHS KPI compliance throughout areas of ownership. Create and lead Safety Committee, Gemba Walks, proactive risk reduction projects with Manufacturing Production and Engineering teams

* Experience in fast paced and time-sensitive manufacturing processes with exposure to end-to-end product deployment from concept - development - successful launch

* Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively and confidently to senior and executive level leadership. Ability to inspire confidence in multiple layers of management from executive to engineering levels, as the face of your program

* 3+ years of professional experience in relevant Engineering discipline, or equivalent, and 2+ years' program/project management experience managing cross-functional programs with engineering bias and manufacturing operations, or equivalent

* Experience building, developing, and managing highly effective programs and processes

* Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP) certification through the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) from Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or equivalent certification highly preferred

* Experience in structured problem solving and root cause analysis such as but not limited to 5Why , Fish Bone Analysis , and 8D reports

* Well organized with meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, ability to make independent decisions, self-motivated, and proactive in EHS&S approach
