Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estate Administrator to join their Private Client and Trust team in Boston.. This role involves managing diverse estate administration tasks, including handling complex taxable estates, while collaborating directly with experienced attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of estate administration.
- Draft and file probate documents in Massachusetts Probate Court and New York Surrogate's Court.
- Prepare and file Federal, Massachusetts, New York, and other state estate tax returns.
- Manage estate assets: collect, value, create asset lists, and calculate tax estimates.
- Draft instruments of distribution, receipts, correspondence, and probate accountings.
- Facilitate post-mortem income tax planning, property transfers to beneficiaries, and funding of marital and exemption trusts.
- Collaborate with in-house and external accountants, advisors, and attorneys.
- Serve as a reliable resource for fiduciaries, attorneys, and family members throughout the estate administration process.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of estate administration, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF software, and Outlook. Familiarity with GEMS (estate tax software) preferred.
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of probate and estate administration, including Federal and state tax laws.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
- Skills: Exceptional project management, written communication, and interpersonal abilities.
