General Description
Our Boston office is seeking a full-time Estate Administration Specialist to support its Private Wealth Services practice. This is a fast-paced and dynamic office where you will
work closely with clients, attorneys and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
* Advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries regarding the estate/trust administration process
* Marshalling, organizing, and analyzing asset information.
* Reading and interpreting wills and trust instruments
* Coordinating valuation of assets and allocation of assets to sub-trusts
* Preparing inventories, asset transfer documents, deeds, probate readings, fiduciary reports/accountings, receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits
* Appearing in probate court on uncontested matters regarding wills and trusts
* Preparing estate and gift tax returns
* Reviewing and extracting relevant information from bank, brokerage and other statements
* Maintaining checkbook and banking records
* Computing and disbursing beneficiary distributions
* Recording deeds in local jurisdictions
* Preparing and filing beneficiary designation forms for life insurance and retirement accounts
* Researching relevant state laws and/or federal estate, gift and GST tax laws.
* Special project and duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
* Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
* Strong time management and organizational skills
* Self-starter who takes initiative to complete assignments
* Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel; and tax return preparation software.
Required Qualifications & Education:
* 5+ years of relevant experience
* Familiarity with fiduciary income tax returns and/or Accounting/CPA background
* Familiarity with local probate rules and procedures
Preferred Qualifications & Education:
* J.D. from ABA accredited law school
* Active Bar license
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
* Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
