The Estimator III creates an environment between ECM and customers in order to better realize new products or projects entered into the RFQ process. There will be an emphasis on new, highly complex and unknown products that will need to be evaluated and costed in order to achieve more business. The Estimator III position will require full accountability from time of quote up to and including (if necessary) time to present to customer. The Estimator will support sales in discussions with customers as needed as a sales engineer . Supporting sales in showing ECM technical competencies in being able to address customer problems and provide technical solutions that will find its way into the customer estimates/quotes.Key Responsibilities:
- Observes company safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
- Interprets customer documentation and creates dialogue with customers regarding new projects. Reviews customer, supplier and engineering documents to understand the scope of work to complete the RFQ. May include reverse engineering of customer supplied products for sourcing same or alternate (similar) components used in quoting.
- Uses current Engineering data and/or works with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop missing or needed information required for completing quote worksheet.
- Prepares for meetings with potential customers/projects. Uses general Engineering knowledge to represent ECM with customers.
- Support sales team by taking on the function of sales engineer and working to show customers ECM's technical and manufacturing capabilities. This includes solving customers' technical problems which solutions will be part of our estimates and quotes.
- Prepares quote(s) per the Electri-Cord approved process with the required/obtained material, labor, equipment and overhead costs derived from supplier quotes and/or current information contained in the Electri-Cord ERP.
- Where predetermined standard customer documents are not available, will communicate with customer to obtain a general understanding of project and offer suggestions in order to present quotes.
- Reviews quotes presented from Estimator I & II positions in order to assure accuracy to customer quotes. Reviews with Manufacturing Engineer and Sales if necessary.
- Attends departmental meetings as required.
- Consolidates collaborative work being performed on RFQ's to present to sales/customer in a professional manner.
- The Estimator III will/may also be required to perform all required tasks associated with the NPR/NPI process
- The Estimator III will/may also be the chosen representative of the Estimating Department in the PTP processes and procedures.
The Estimator III will also be the primary interface between Estimating and Manufacturing when identifying and reviewing current and past (estimates vs actuals) pertaining to labor rate standards derived from past PDR's and comparing against current ERP standards.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing / Industrial).
- Experience: 3 yearsrelated experience in a manufacturing environment
- Equivalent experience: combination of education and experience
- Knowledge and Technical Skills: ISO 9001 experience
- Tools: Experience inLean Manufacturing, Six Sigma / Quality Tools
- Software: ERP software experience, CAD, Excel
