This is an intern position within the preconstruction/estimating arm of the organization. Participants will gain an understanding of the estimating and bidding process, and explore the critical role of an estimator within a CM/GC firm. Participants will spend most of their time on the phone speaking with subcontractors/vendors regarding upcoming bid opportunities, and performing data entry tasks updating the company's bidder list with new information. Therefore, strong interpersonal and attention-to-detail skills are required.

Responsibilities

· Preconstruction/Estimating: Gain an understanding of the estimating and bidding process. Explore the critical role of an Estimator and assist in preparing bids for submission to clients, soliciting pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers, and reviewing and leveling subcontractor proposals.

· Subcontractor Solicitation

o Solicit pricing from subcontractors for upcoming bid opportunities

o Maintain company bid portals

o Follow up with subs regarding bid status

o File and organize subcontractor proposals

o Keep subcontractors up to date with project information and addenda during bid process

· Data Entry

o Update bidder list with new information

o Input business partner information in CMiC construction software

· Update senior leadership with progress reports

· Attend meetings with senior leadership to review and level subcontractor proposals

· Assist estimating team by performing any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· High energy with positive attitude

· Ability to manage tasks under tight deadlines

· Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to prioritize and multi-task

· Coachable and team player

· Desire to be the best

· Exceptional computer skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required)

· Proactive, not reactive – ability to foresee, anticipate and resolve issues before they happen

· In pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in Construction Management or Engineering

· Interest in working for a construction management / general contracting firm upon graduation

· 3.0 GPA
