Summary of Responsibilities: The Estimating function is critical for the overall growth and well-being of any commercial General Contracting Company. The hired Estimator will proactively support a General Contractor who specializes in ground-up and TI work for projects that range in contract size from one and a half to ten million per project. in Central Texas and surrounding areas. The lion's share of the work typically includes shell retail buildings, professional office spaces, educational facilities, industrial settings, food service industry projects, etc... Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Development of client, subcontractor/supplier & consultant relationships
  • Seek out and identify project opportunities
  • Manage a minimum team of 2 to 3 estimating support staff
  • Pursue, retrieve, and evaluate various project bid documents
  • Adept at 'Risk Management' for strategic bid navigation
  • Orchestrate the bid process from A-Z to produce timely, accurate and competitive quotes
  • In-House takeoffs (at various levels)
  • Identify and draft key scopes of work
  • Identify, draft, and submit detailed and timely RFI's
  • Coordinate meetings during the bid stage to include, but not be limited to; Plan Review, vendor commitment updates, SOV drafts and Qualifications specific to any given bid
  • Identify specific ITB submission requests (i.e., insurance, bonding, or other requirements)
  • Personally audit or delegate out the site inspections of future projects to survey existing conditions as it relates to the construction documents (take representative pics)
  • Early in the process obtain targeted, qualified vendor commitments to bid in each bid cycle
  • Collect and scrutinize vendor bids and log in those that are qualified
  • Always apply creativity and resourcefulness
  • Distribution and tracking of committed vendors utilizing Procore
  • Able to build project schedules via Microsoft Project
  • Submission of proposals that meet or exceed established deadlines
  • Following the award of a project, coordinate Pre-construction for a fluid hand-off process to the PM's and Supers.
General Requirements:
  • Proficiency with the full stack of MSFT platforms to include MS Projects, Procore, Blue Beam and other related software packages utilized in our firm
  • Must be self-motivated & punctual
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills (internal and external)
  • Must be professional and polished in conversation as well as written skills
