The Estimator will report to the Purchasing Manager.

Job Overview

Responsible for estimating building materials for cost categories such as, but not limited to, foundation, framing, roofing, masonry products, siding, drywall, lighting, interior trim, hardware, flooring, etc.

Estimates are calculated utilizing blueprints, specifications, related construction documents, and tools such as Plan Swift to identify accurate and usable take-off quantities.

In addition, the Estimator will conduct deep dives into the estimation of labor, material, and time requirements to help refine and improve the overall cost of the budgets for each house.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform corrections within the ERP system, Brix, dealing with take-off adjustments and typo errors.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs from working or design drawings for budgeting or bid purposes.
  • Redline changes on house plans.
  • Collect and calculate fence quotes requested by Sales.
  • Coordinate development and review of renderings and floor plans for Marketing.
  • Assist with new starts by reviewing PO's for accuracy.
  • Help with VPO's to verify needed materials.
  • Update lighting plans to ensure electrical layout accuracy based on selections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/needed.
Qualifications
  • Explore documentation to deeply understand construction requirements and code adherence.
  • Select, measure, and track important metrics.
  • Visit sites, warehouses, and other venues necessary to perform should cost estimates.
  • Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics.
  • Prepare relevant and reliable forecasts.
  • Conduct complex risk analysis activities.
  • Previous working experience as a construction estimator for 2-3 years.
  • Hands-on experience with complex data research activities.
  • Good understanding of data analysis methods and KPIs.
  • Familiarity with computer programs such as Plans Swift.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solver.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction industry.
