Job Description:
OverviewWe are an established GC in Portland, OR and are looking for a skilled Estimator to join our team. We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in assessing bid documents, drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure precise estimates that contribute to winning projects.Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze bid documents, drawings, plans, and specifications to fully understand project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Design Team, General Contractor, Subcontractors, and Project Team to adhere to bidding schedules.
  • Create accurate takeoffs and estimates through comprehensive reviews of project scopes and specifications.
  • Conduct constructability assessments and identify potential schedule risks.
  • Prepare specific scopes for trades and evaluate subcontractor proposals.
  • Develop clear bid clarifications and assumptions related to project scope.
  • Support pre-construction services, including initial budgets and value engineering.
  • Maintain strong communication with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and understanding.
  • Ensure timely submission of bids and budgets by deadlines.
  • Work with project teams to facilitate smooth project initiation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering Management or a related field; ASPE membership/certification is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction estimating.
  • Strong conceptual estimating abilities with a detailed understanding of all project divisions.
  • Knowledge of MEP trades and experience with estimating software (e.g., Sage Precisions, OnScreen Takeoff).
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools like Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all tasks.
