A Brief Overview

The Estimator uses computer technology and mathematical skill to prepare an estimation of the structural components required for a project in accordance with Company policies.

What you will do

* Estimate the materials needed for structural components of residential/commercial project according to company policy and local building code.

* Assist salesmen as needed with customer orders.

* Assist in quote process as requested.

* Provide information about wood structural components to contractors as needed.

* Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.

* Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.

* Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.

* Work in sales department as required.

* Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.

* Comply with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

Education Qualifications

* Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.

Experience Qualifications

* 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience prefered.

Skills and Abilities

* Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.

* Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

* Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software.

* Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.

* Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.
