Position Description As an estimator with BluRoc, you will be responsible for winning new work for the company. Your role will consist of reviewing specification documents, strategizing with field leadership and clients to develop the best plan for performing each project, quantifying components of the project, generating project costs using estimating software, and writing project proposals. You will be working closely with other members of the estimating team as well as the regional project management staff. Responsibilities
- Identify scope of work and calculate quantity takeoffs of civil access, E&S, and matting to generate equipment, labor, material and subcontract costs for projects
- Perform field visits and attend pre-bid meetings during bidding process to understand site conditions and project parameters
- Manage multiple project proposals, meet critical deadlines, prioritize daily activities, work well under pressure and multitask
- Solicit pricing from material vendors and subcontractors
- Prepare written proposals and respond to customer questions
- Coordinate with other team members to develop overall estimate on larger projects
- Ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and transmission line & pipeline standards
- Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management
- Develop project schedules to ensure projects can be completed to meet owner requirements and that company resources are used efficiently
- Ensure estimates address all potential safety risks and concerns
- Develop innovative means and methods for completing projects to increase competitiveness and margins
- Maintain records on all submitted pricing and proposals
QualificationsRequirements
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand environmental maps and site drawings
- Experience in civil construction or utility work (electrical transmission & pipeline)
- Strong analytical/mathematical abilities and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or comparable degree preferred but not required
