Our client is currently seeking Estimators ranging from entry to senior level to join a growing and innovative general contractor that focuses on delivering high-quality multifamily construction projects.
The Estimator plays a crucial role in supporting the estimating team by preparing complete sections of estimates for construction projects. This includes tasks such as quantity surveying, pricing, bid solicitation, working within the estimating system, compiling cost history, and preparing systems comparisons. The Estimator typically reports to the most senior estimator within the business unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform conceptual estimating on civil, architectural, and structural aspects of projects
- Conduct quantitative surveys and develop accurate pricing from early project stages through to an approved working budget, GMP, or Lump Sum Price.
- Organize project documentation for GMP and Lump Sum Bid delivery methods.
- Lead comprehensive reviews of subcontractor scopes for civil, architectural, and structural aspects before awarding contracts.
- Collect and present unit pricing data.
- Outline clarifications and qualifications within an estimate.
- Provide backup for estimates used in analysis and review.
- Secure cost estimates for specialty items from relevant sources.
- Identify indirect costs and General Condition items in estimates.
- Apply knowledge of unit pricing and material/labor components to estimates.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Produce manpower estimates that align with the construction estimate.
- Assemble a complete estimate/bid package breakdown using input from team members.
- Establish estimating protocols for specific documentation types.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with a focus on multifamily construction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Proven time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and delegate when necessary.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all actions.
