Job Description: Sheet Metal Estimator

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Position Type & Pay: DIRECT HIRE, Full-Time, 100% onsite, $25-30/hr. D.O.E

We are seeking a Sheet Metal Estimator to join our dynamic team in Santa Ana, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for client quoting, supplier sourcing, production planning, and supporting on-time order fulfillment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in a precision sheet metal fabrication setting and possess strong technical communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Collect and analyze data to estimate the time, cost, materials, and labor required for sheet metal products.
  • Client Quoting: Prepare detailed cost estimates for clients based on project specifications.
  • Supplier Sourcing: Identify and source materials and components from suppliers to meet project requirements.
  • Production Planning: Develop project plans in collaboration with the estimating department, ensuring effective planning of routes through the shop floor to fabricate parts.
  • Technical Communication: Provide feedback on sheet metal designs for manufacturability and collaborate with internal teams for continuous improvement.
  • On-Time Fulfillment: Support the tracking and management of orders to ensure timely delivery of products.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a technical school preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in precision sheet metal fabrication, including experience in estimating, punching, forming, welding, and finishing.
  • Familiarity with planning routes through the shop floor for product fabrication.
  • Related training or experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication methods.
  • Experience in costing and the estimation process.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with design, production, and client teams.
  • MS Excel proficiency is a must; strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
