Overview and Purpose: The Senior Estimator reports to the VP of Pre-Construction at Banneker. You will be responsible reviewing drawings and specifications and site logistics, developing scope sheets for different trades, reviewing bid estimates and scopes from sub-contractors and comparing them with the bid drawings and specifications, using historic data to compare current bids from sub-contractors and suppliers, coordinating with members of Banneker's bid-team throughout the bid process, and working with key personnel to develop a comprehensive bid estimate for jobs in which Banneker is bidding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Accurately estimate the costs of construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other associated expenses. Analyze project requirements and specifications to prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates.
- Project Analysis: Review project plans, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to identify potential challenges and opportunities for cost savings.
- Vendor and Supplier Management: Obtain and analyze quotes from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and accuracy in estimates. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Budget Management: Assist in developing project budgets based on accurate cost estimates and project requirements. Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and provide recommendations to stay within budget.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and tender documents in response to client invitations to tender or requests for proposals. Ensure bids are submitted on time and adhere to the specifications outlined in the tender documents.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors, to gather necessary information and ensure accurate estimations. Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure alignment on project objectives, timelines, and budget expectations.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and pricing fluctuations to enhance estimation accuracy and competitiveness. Propose process improvements to streamline the estimating process and enhance efficiency within the department.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or in a related role within the construction industry.
- Proficient in using construction estimation software and tools.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
