Source One is a consulting services company and were currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant to our direct client, a major utilities company in Hicksville, NY. This will be a hybrid role with 1-2 days a week in the office and 3-4 days remote.
Job Title: Ethics & Compliance Investigator (Contractor)
Pay Rate: $30/hr (W-2)
40 hours/week, standard business hours, Mon-Fri
?T?ravel: May need to respond to client offices across Long Island and NJ, will need a car and valid driver's license
The Ethics and Compliance team manages internal investigations and works with others throughout the Company to conduct thorough and timely inquiries while overseeing and continuously improving the investigation processes and data. This position is responsible for time-sensitive, complex investigations of irregularities, fraud, and/or other violations of the Standards of Conduct (including harassment and discrimination based on protected characteristics), company policies, or the law. Investigators are expected to: independently formulate investigation plans, conduct investigations (including witness interviews and examination of other evidence), draft timely and concise investigation reports for distribution to senior management and human resources, and provide necessary follow-up to ensure that appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions are initiated and completed. The position is also responsible for providing assistance, guidance and support for other compliance program initiatives, including training and corporate communications. Duties often require interaction with union members and business leaders and relationships must be developed and maintained to facilitate interactions and cooperation. ?Must be knowledgeable of company policies; understand legal issues/restrictions associated with investigations; be able to manage caseloads, including prioritizing of significant matters; collect data; and review patterns and anomalies.
Responsibilities?:
Conduct investigations, interview witnesses, gather evidence, draft timely and concise investigation reports and provide necessary follow-up to ensure that appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions are initiated and completed by the responsible parties
Support and conduct investigations triggered by reported concerns and complaints from internal and external parties
Interact with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, labor unions and business unit management in gathering and analyzing data
Assist management in implementing controls to prevent Standards of Conduct issues, training, auditing and security surveys
Testify in civil/criminal trials, mediations and arbitration hearings
Compose/present reports, including recommendations to prevent recurrence, for leadership review
Build relationships and credibility across the organization
Manage storage and maintenance of investigation case data according to the established framework
?Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2 years of conducting
In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5-10 years of conducting internal corporate investigations
Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external parties
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience in maintaining highly-confidential and sensitive information
Experience evaluating information to determine compliance with company policies and procedures, laws and regulations
Preferred:
Familiarity with and prior work experience conducting investigations into violations of EEO and anti-harassment laws, as well as controllership/fraud and other ethical concerns
