As a member of the academic affairs team, the evening adjunct and tutoring coordinator will serve in dual capacities, coordinating support for adjunct faculty and providing leadership and coordination for tutoring services. The coordinator will work closely with the Dean for Teaching, Learning, andAcademic Support to provide comprehensive onboarding and ongoing support for adjunct faculty from all disciplines as well as work in concert with the Director of Library Services, Ed Tech Coordinator, and Testing Center Coordinator to educate students of the full range of academic support services.
Major Responsibilities:Adjunct Coordinator- Establish a supportive community for adjunct faculty, promoting engagement, collaboration, and continuous learning; act as a primary liaison between adjunct faculty and academic departments
- Coordinate new adjunct faculty onboarding orientation and training
- Provide ongoing support and development for adjunct faculty in areas of instructional design, pedagogy, and educational technologies
- Collaborate with the Dean of Teaching, Learning and Academic Support to ensure that the Center for Instructional Excellence actively engages adjunct faculty with programs and services
- Ensure clear communication between the College and all adjunct faculty about policies, required faculty reporting, student success initiatives, faculty resources, etc.
- Coordinate ongoing process for adjunct teaching evaluations
Tutoring Coordinator- Provide leadership, management of tutors, and promotion for the interdisciplinary center
- Hire, train, and supervise part-time faculty, staff tutors
- Serve as math or English tutor
- Develop and disseminate tutoring schedule to campus community
- Conduct presentations on a variety of student success and learning assistance topics
- Works in concert with the Director of Library Services and Ed Tech Coordinator to link and coordinate presentations and topics in order to align overall academic support service goals and create efficiency among services
- One-on-one coaching of students, data analysis, record keeping, tracking, and reporting of students
- Coordinate training program for tutors. This includes keeping up-to-date with current trends in tutoring and academic support services
- Collect and analyze data to ensure the center is meeting student needs providing reports to supervisor
- Provide support of the institution and its mission
- Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views
- Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications:- Master's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated leadership or administration experience in an academic setting with supervisory experience
- Knowledge of tutoring techniques, learning assistance programs, a variety of learning styles, and teaching and learning strategies
- Experience with trends and issues for academic tutoring services
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and educational technology tools that support traditional, hybrid, and online learning
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications
- Direct classroom teaching experience
- Available weekday evening hours
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in a community college setting
- Faculty credentialing in English or Math
