Job Duties
The purpose of this position is to clean and service rooms, bathrooms and other resident areas. Dusts furniture and equipment. Cleans windowsills, empties trash baskets, and arranges furniture in an orderly fashion. Performs a variety of related duties in resident areas. Performs floor, carpet and upholstery care. The schedule for this position is 3-11 pm, with rotating weekends.

The brand new Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center (JCVCC) is named after two Virginia heroes. Air Force Colonel William A. Jones III of Norfolk was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in Vietnam. Army Staff Sergeant Christopher F. Cabacoy of Virginia Beach was killed in Afghanistan in 2010 when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. The Jones & Cabacoy VCC honors their service to the Nation and the Commonwealth. The Jones & Cabacoy VCC was built to serve our Veterans. They served us, now it is our duty to serve them. JCVCC is nestled in an ideal location in the Princess Anne section of Virginia Beach on a 25-acre site adjacent to Nimmo Parkway (extended), West Neck Rd, and N. Landing Rd. This pristine 128-bed facility is state of the art with immaculate outside landscaping and features all private rooms that will be organized into eight 16-bed households that surround a central community center and rehabilitation gym. Each 16-bed sub unit includes a dining room, kitchenette and dayroom adjoined access to a courtyard.
You will have the full support of the entire DVS team, including the Administrators of the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care in Richmond, and the brand-new Puller Veterans Care Center in Fauquier County (the twin of Jones & Cabacoy VCC). Minimum Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of sanitation and cleaning techniques. Extensive demonstrated skill in using housekeeping equipment including buffers, sweepers, mops, brooms, squeegee, vacuums and hand cleaning sprayers and tools. Considerable demonstrated ability to meet the physical demands which include occasional pushing, pulling and lifting items between 0-50lbs; frequent bending, stooping, and reaching and extending hands and arms in any direction; repetitive motion in the completion of housekeeping duties. Ability to work before and after work hours and during emergencies. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
