Education Requirements:
Required:
* Current North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art Cosmetologist or Manicurist license
* Current North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art Cosmetology Teacher or Manicuring Teacher license
* Current CEUs that support field experience and/or advanced education in Cosmetology or Manicuring Technology.
Work Experience:
Required:
* Must have at least 2 years' experience as a licensed cosmetologist or manicurist.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
* Associates Degree in Cosmetology from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred:
* Have at least 2 years' experience as a licensed cosmetology instructor, preferably within a community college.
Or have at least 2 years' experience as a license manicuring instructor.
* Five years documented cosmetology or manicuring work experience.
Essential Duties
* Provide classroom and lab instruction for students in a physical instructional setting.
* Instruct evening as needed for the program and students.
* Organize a semester course following department, institutional, and state guidelines.
* Create course materials (course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, tests, handouts, lectures, slides, assignments, rubrics, models, classroom schedule activities, group work).
* Develop, prepare and grade assignments identified to evaluate student performance and based on student learning outcomes.
* Set up materials on Blackboard (grade book; make-up assignments)
* Set up policies compliant with department, institutional, and state regulations and requirements.
* Hold student conferences as needed and required.
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and data bases according to program needs and/or accreditation requirements.
* Record attendance in Self-Service.
* Correspond with students, Lead Instructor, division Dean, and Vice President of Academic Affairs and provide responses in a timely manner. Be accessible to Lead Instructor and Dean by phone and email.
* Keep up with grades and attendance on a weekly basis. Submit grade and attendance reports as required.
* Organize and maintain a clean and efficient classroom and lab setting; model and instruct students on the importance of a clean and organized work environment.
* Oversee inventory control and management.
* Work with students registered with Disabilities Services.
* Stay abreast of new developments and changes in the career field of manicuring and nail technology and the NC Cosmetic Art Rules and Regulations
* Complete all compulsory training in regards to FERPA, Title IX, and Campus Safety.
* Respond to student issues professionally and report unresolved issues or classroom incidents to the Lead Instructor.
* Adhere to all division and campus policies and procedures.
