Job Description and Duties

Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.

Under the direction of the Deputy Manager I, the Event Coordinator coordinates, organizes, and facilitates events at the 7th DAA. and cultivating a welcoming environment for co-workers, visitors and business partners.

* Respond to event inquiries and assist potential customers by providing information about available venues and services.

* Meet with event and activity producers to negotiate rental agreements, determine equipment needs, and finalize event details.

* Work with the CEO and Deputy Manager to create and distribute competition guidelines for various events, providing input and making recommendations for improvement.

* Assist in recruiting judges and volunteers, developing judging criteria, and ensuring the smooth execution of event competitions.

* Compile and process event-related reports, letters, and other documentation in a timely and organized manner.

* Manage financial transactions for events, including receiving and receipting payments, preparing deposits, and maintaining accurate financial records.

* Represent the Monterey County Fair at community functions to promote the fairgrounds as a venue for various events.

* Develop and distribute promotional materials to raise awareness of the Monterey County Fair and its events.

Working Conditions

The fairground is 23 acres of a park-like setting, with livestock, maintenance, grandstand, exhibit buildings. The incumbent works in a office in the Fairground Administrative Office Building. The incumbent will have a workstation with standard office furniture, phone, and computer with various desktop programs. The workstation is equipped with standard office equipment. The office area has a photocopying machine and fax machine. Files with shelves are located throughout the office. Night and weekend work is expected, especially during the annual Monterey County Fair and the Monterey Bay Classic Livestock Show, and occasionally during other events.

Regular or recurring telework may occur as part of the incumbent's ongoing regular schedule in accordance with CDFA's Telework Policy.

The 7th District Agricultural Association (DAA), doing business as the Monterey County Fair & Event Center, provides a year-round, safe and friendly environment for educational, cultural, recreational and entertainment experiences that enrich and celebrate the community.
