Our client based in northern Virginia is looking for an event sales manager who will manage the sales and booking of private events, including prospecting and networking, responding to inquiries, following up with potential clients, meeting clients, converting inquiries into sales, and promoting offers.
This position will be in Lorton and will require onsite work a majority of the time.
Responsibilities
- Manage, and actively market the space as a place to host events and rent for events
- Increase the rental-earned income activity by proactively working with the community to develop rentals
- Create and update sales collateral or informational materials
- Manage all bookings of events by phone, mail, or walk-in inquiries and follow up on every event from the first contact to the billing
- Assist the Director of Special Events & Rentals to create and manage a year-round events calendar
- Sell and market to external markets which may encompass corporate events/meetings/trainings, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, and personal milestone events
- Negotiate and manage the sale of group events of various sizes and complexities via lead follow-up, trade show attendance if/when appropriate, proposals, site inspections, and contracts
- Assist with the on-site contact and company representative during events as needed
- Attend planned events, other events as determined by the Director
- Ensure outside caterers, entertainment, and event rental companies are correctly informed and have access to relevant points on campus.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3-5 years in event sales, event management and rentals experience
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word, Adobe, Calendar and other relevant applications
- Experience in event management and hospitality and in the production of frequent and large-scale events
- Experience in performing, visual arts, and museum events preferred
- Experience with the creation of event sales collateral and information materials
- Strong skills demonstrated in time management, communication, decision making and attention to detail
- Experienced with vendor management and serving as a liaison between various stakeholders. Capable of overseeing multiple projects, coordinating with contractors, and effectively communicating with diverse groups
