JOB OBJECTIVE: Assist the Special Event Coordinator with day-to-day responsibilities involving space rentals at The Greens as well as special events for the Parks and Recreation Department. This position also performs the physical set up and breakdown for events held at city facilities and performs general maintenance of the facility and grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assists in coordinating yearly events, as well as new programs and events, including assigning committee members, attending monthly event meetings, preparing event agendas, and confirming that all services and necessary preparations are in order.
* Assist in working with outside vendors and organizations to develop an entertaining and community-friendly event.
* Helps with advertising and marketing for special events
* Effectively communicate information through written correspondence, oral communication, preparation of reports
* Represent the facility and the City of Sherwood at trade shows and conventions.
* Prepares and distributes flyers and other advertisements for special events.
* Meeting with potential event rental prospects to discuss event dates, rental policies, and contracts.
* Conducts site tours of the facility and marketing the facility
* Moves, sets up, takes down and positions chairs, tables, staging or other equipment according to client specifications for special events and parties.
* Perform a variety of general maintenance work to the building.
* Works with people closely and directly who are renters or are potential renters and must showcase good communication and people skills.
* Empties trash containers, cleans rest rooms, sweeps floors, vacuums, dusts baseboards, cleans windows and performs other light maintenance tasks.
* Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials
* Ability to work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, cleaning agents or similar solutions using only normal protective equipment to maintain facilities.
* Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications
High school or GED, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some knowledge of law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; working knowledge of animal restraint, behavior, and care techniques. Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.
