Job Responsibilities

The Events Coordinator for the College of Architecture, Art & Construction (CAAC) oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all college-level events, both internal and external. This role involves collaborating extensively with various departments and stakeholders, including student services, public relations, marketing, and college leadership, to ensure successful events that contribute to community building within the college. Additionally, the coordinator initiates new event ideas, monitors their success, and works with the Director of Operations to establish new traditions and foster a unified community.

JOB DUTIES:

50% - Essential - Event Planning and Management:

Oversee the planning and execution of all CAAC external and internal events at the college level. Provide support to departmental-level events whenever possible (this may also involve occasional travel to our locations in Greenville, SC, or Charleston, SC). Initiate new event ideas and monitor their success. Collaborate with the members of the Dean's Office to help build new traditions and foster a unified community.

30% - Essential - Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with the Director of Student Services to coordinate student events. Collaborate with the CAAC Public Relations Director on all event-related publications, both pre- and post-event. Coordinate with the Dean, Director of Development, and Dean's Executive Assistant for external-facing events involving donors, alumni and more.

15% - Essential - Budget Coordination:

Coordinate event budgets with the CAAC Business Office. Ensure all events are executed within the allocated budget and financial guidelines. Monitor expenditures and provide regular budget reports.

5% - Essential - Meeting Support:

Assist the members of the Dean's Office with college and advisory board meetings including meeting logistics, preparing of meeting space, documents, content and minutes.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Education - Bachelor's degree and relevant program experience

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience working in a higher education setting.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in event planning and coordination.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
