This includes all outdoor features and areas related to any specific event, including the setup and breakdown of equipment. Workdays and schedules are generally routine, however are subject to change. Staff in this position will be asked to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the client.Position Responsibilities:The Special Events Technician - Special Event Team is primarily responsible for the following tasks:
- Assists janitorial, landscaping, and maintenance staff in completing other needed work during pre-event setup.
- Conducts pre-event inspections for all locations. Documenting needs and prioritizing work based on timeframes.
- Assist in the evaluating, repair and performing of minor plumbing, including unclogging toilets, urinals, and sinks, and repairing faucets.
- Be able to diagnose electrical issues including switches, receptacles, lighting and breakers.
- Able to provide electrical support in the form of setup of power supply.
- Able to assist with HVAC issues and coordinate with appropriate contractors to affect corrections/repairs.
- Ensures exterior building appearance ( windows, doors and entryways) are clean and free of cobwebs and debris.
- Maintain walkways, steps, parking areas and roads to ensure the area is safe and presentable for event traffic.
- Assists with set-ups and breakdowns as needed for outdoor or indoor events.
- Communicate with the client/event representative to ensure all needs have been met to their satisfaction.
- Directs any ongoing concern to the event team and manager(s) as needed.
- Provides ongoing support and a direct communication link with the client throughout the event.
- Ensure the breakdown and reset up event spaces, for normal university operations.
- Communicates with SE or other line managers about any challenges or problems that may affect future work.
- Enforce compliance with Safety rules and standards. Promote safe work practices.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Training Bullets for helping front line staff to achieve goals.

- Some Maintenance, Janitorial or Landscaping experience.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems that may arise in day-to-day operations and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to inspect and ensure that all tools are in safe working condition before assigning to crew members.
- Has received and fully understands safety training, proper use of PPE, Application of anti-microbial barrier technology solutions and utilization of proper PPE for disinfection applications.
- Willing to partner with all crew members to help ensure all are working safely and are using safety equipment properly.
- Ability to carry, extend and climb ladders safely.
