EVS Supervisor

Job Summary:

Supervises an area of responsibility for the EVS department; ensures a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics to patients, visitors and staff. This position is also responsible for daily oversight of regulatory standards, financial stewardship of department operations and collaboration with other management and supervisory team members to support the department in its daily functions.

Job Responsibilities:

Plans daily assignments and conducts daily handoff shift briefings to manage Environmental Services operations.

Manage Epic, patient discharge system

Directs and assign work to be completed by the Environmental Services Technicians, Environmental Services Floor Care Technicians and documents completion through QA's

Conducts observations/inspections on Technicians to ensure infection control practices are met.

Conducts weekly employee meetings/training sessions on subjects related to Environmental Services and maintains records documenting such training.

Completes probationary/quarterly/annual evaluations on employees' work performance.

Counsel and mentor personnel on job performance.

Collaborates in conjunction with Infection Control to ensure adequate disinfection practices are implemented and enforced.

Must have knowledge of special policies relating to: COVID, Bed Bugs, Regulated Medical Waste and other regulatory agencies.

Performs payroll, schedules vacation and other time off for employees.

Performs audits related to waste stream, flushing of water in patient care spaces and descaling of ice machines.

May be asked to represent Environmental Services on hospital committees or attend meetings as assigned.

Collaborates with Managers and Director on the department budget including monitoring the use of overtime and tracking supplies and equipment usage.

Ensures all employees in his/her supervision are kept current on required educations.

Conducts monthly employee meetings to maintain consistent departmental communication across the system.

Prepares and completes other managerial reports as assigned

Conduct Safety Committee, Patient experience, and Employee Engagement surveys

Admin Duties:

Create and update employee files

Maintain accurate records of shift assignments, quality control issues and infection control protocols and outcomes.

Manage employee attendance tracking, FMLA, Work Comp, etc.

Required Job Qualifications:

High School degree or equivalent

3 years' work experience with 1-year solid experience in leadership of environmental services experience and healthcare.

Must have knowledge of special policies relating to: COVID, Bed Bugs, Regulated Medical Waste and other regulatory agencies.
