GRADE 13 LOCATION OF POSITION Department of Human Services Dorchester County Department of Social Services Local General Administration 2737 Dorchester Square Cambridge, MD 21613 Main Purpose of Job This position functions as the Executive Assistant to the Director and other executive staff as necessary, and serves as the central point of contact for the citizens of Dorchester County. The duties require a strong working knowledge of the agency operations, state policies and procedures, utilizing independent judgment, adhering to deadlines, handling complex/difficult issues from local and state officials; DSS Advisory Board and internal and external customers. The position coordinates a variety of professional administrative activities for the Director to ensure a more efficient delivery of services throughout the Department while at all times providing customer service to both internal and external customers that meets or exceeds the standards set by the Department. POSITION DUTIES Serves as agency coordinator for agency communications, marketing and community events to promote services and events by performing the completing various office procedure tasks. Serves as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Social Services in order to relieve the official of operational details by using best practices, advanced office procedures, and State policies and procedures. Functions as the Executive Assistant to the DCDSS Advisory Board in order to relieve those officials of the operational details by using best business practices, advanced office procedures and Agency and State policies and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying. Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience : One year of administrative staff or professional work. Notes : 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. One year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Google Calendar and Google mail. One year of experience drafting/creating confidential documentssuch as correspondence and reports. One year of experience demonstrating strong time management,priority setting and problem-solving skills; including the preparation ofaccurate workflow charts, organization charts, and other analytical aids forDirectors Office. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
