They maintain control of the kitchen environment, supervising staff, hiring, inspiring, coaching, and managing performance. Collaborating closely with the General Manager, they shape the restaurant's vision. As a leader, they serve as a role model and mentor to kitchen staff, embodying professionalism at all times. Essential Functions: Cuisine/Food Service: Supervise food production and culinary activities Ensure smooth kitchen service and uphold quality and cost standards Address any issues promptly and ensure timely service Approve prepared food items, modify menus as needed, and standardize recipes Oversee ordering, receipt, and storage of food products Stay updated on dining trends to adapt the menu accordingly Support, observe, train, and direct kitchen staff during service Leadership: Maintain adequate kitchen staffing and provide necessary training Delegate tasks efficiently and resolve problems promptly Maximize kitchen staff productivity and manage Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine Foster cooperation among kitchen staff Administrative: Monitor sales and adjust prep levels accordingly Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards Conduct accurate inventories and price verifications Manage food costs and budget guidelines Maintain equipment, supplies, and kitchen expenses Keep records of repairs, maintenance, and temperature logs Ensure staff adherence to break compliance policy Required Competencies: Passion for food and people Business-minded approach to cooking Appreciation for food as an art form Mastery of flavors and creativity in cooking Focus on quality ingredients and sustainability Strong work ethic and ability to lead under pressure Effective communication and leadership skills Track record in upscale culinary environments Control over food and labor costs Menu development and team management experience Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of relevant culinary experience BA or related culinary degree with eight or more years of management experience Food Safety and Food Handlers Certifications Preferred Qualifications: Conversational Spanish proficiency Piatti is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
