Your RoleAs a member of the Executive Communications team, the Executive Communications Manager, will be responsible for working directly with the Global Co-Chairs and Co-CEOs to promote Gensler through thought leadership, blog posts, client communications, speaking engagements, media interviews, and speeches, creating short and long-form content, and video designed to be shared across multiple channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Gensler's website. The Executive Communications Manager will work collaboratively with the bi-coastal team to develop strategic content and manage the external brand positioning of the Executive Leadership team. Additionally, the Executive Communications Manager will be responsible for driving strategic messages internally (i.e. firm vision, key program launches, strategic initiatives, and other related communications) that connect our people to the firm. This role will work closely with the firm's PR and Marketing teams, along with Gensler's external PR agency to coordinate seamless messaging and positioning of the firm and its leaders as:

The Communications Manager, part of the Executive Communications studio, will work with the Global Co-Chairs and Co-CEOs, and report directly to the Directors of Executive Communications. This role is global in scope and includes a broad array of responsibilities and support efforts focused on the internal and external communications of the firm's Executive Leadership. This position will be based full-time in our Washington DC office.
What You Will Do Work directly with the Global Co-Chairs and Co-CEOs to develop original content in the form of thought pieces, blog posts, media articles, speeches, talking points, social media articles and posts, etc. Work collaboratively with a bi-coastal Global Marketing, Communications, and PR team including an LA-based Executive Communications Manager, Communications Specialist, and Graphic Designer, to research, write, storyboard and design both internal and external presentations for the Executive Leadership team. Manage Executive Leaders' External Communications
- Track and shepherd multiple tasks and priorities with varied deadlines, keeping projects moving along simultaneously
- Meet regularly with Executives to discuss, prompt, and pitch ideas for topics they might explore in their writing and speaking
- Review and analyze content and event metrics to evaluate performance, sharing reports periodically with the Executives
- Regularly consult and coordinate with the Executives' assistants, the Executive Communications Studio, PR/Marketing colleagues, and external point persons on scheduling
Writing Develop written thought leadership content for the Executive Leaders, including commentary and op-ed pieces, blogs, social media articles and posts, and talking points (for media interviews and presentations), pulling in Gensler Research Institute findings and external research, to position Leaders as experts on topics such as:
- Climate change, sustainability, and resilience
- The future of cities and urbanization
- The future of work, lifestyle, mobility, and health and wellness
- Equity and social justice
- Collaborative leadership
- Creativity and innovation
- Real estate development trends
- Business and consumer trends
- The human experience
And how each of the above intersect with, and are impacted by, design and the built environment. External Coordination
- Communicate with key external individuals related to speaking engagements and interviews, while coordinating all activities with Executive Leaders' assistants, the Director of Executive Communications, the Director of Global Marketing, and the Firmwide Public Relations Leader
- Track and pursue opportunities with key external partners and organizations:
- Urban Land Institute (ULI)
- World Economic Forum
- UN Climate Change Conference
- World Business Council for Sustainable Development
- World Green Building Council
- CoreNet Global
- Fortune CEO Council
- Other media groups such as the Forbes, Fast Company, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Councils
Presentations
- Assist with or lead the storyboarding of internal and external presentations
- Develop script and talking points for presentations
- Provide support to presentation development, by finding research (GRI and external) to strengthen the presentation's thesis, and by seeking advice from marketing and PR colleagues around the firm to identify the best examples of Gensler projects
- Coach Executives on presentation delivery
Coordination within Gensler Regularly meet and coordinate with Co-CEO's Hub leadership team including:

Your Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in writing, communications, journalism, or related field
- At least 5-10 years relevant experience
- Brilliant writer with excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Experience working directly with C-Level leaders
- Career experience in the Professional Services sector (design, advertising, law, creative industry, tech)
- Experience in media relations
- Must be organized, efficient, and enjoy working with a team
- Maintain professional demeanor and keep strict confidentiality
High level of proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office
- Adobe Acrobat and InDesign
- Social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X)
- Basic HTML editing
Preferred:
- Master's degree in writing, communications, journalism, or related field
- Communications experience in real estate/development sector
- Familiarity with full Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools such as Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Asana, Box, and others
**For candidates based in Los Angeles, the estimated base salary is expected to be $100-110k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience**
