Education and Experience Required• Must have, at a minimum, 3 years of experience in Assisted Living or Housing, higher degree in nursing, social services, mental health or other degree specific to management, and/or have completed 1,000-hour executive in training program. • Demonstrate competencies in health care management and operations, quality management, senior housing regulations, staff development and management, and community outreach. • Must have an ability to work effectively with residents, families, and staff who collectively possess a variety of personalities and backgrounds. • Must complete and pass a state required background study.• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.• Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors. Key Responsibilities • Supervise Personnel - Interview, train, orientate, evaluate, recognize and discipline staff as needed. This includes providing day to day work direction and problem solving as issues or conflicts arise. Continually communicate expectations with staff. Ensure staff complies with online education training. Follow organizational Human Resource policies. Develop and maintain staffing and scheduling systems reflecting quality, cost, and appropriateness, based on workload, skills, availability of support services, infection control issues, and safety considerations. Provide regular staff meetings and ongoing employee educational and development opportunities which meet regulatory requirements and increase knowledge. Create and maintain a work environment for employees that is conducive to high productivity and morale. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with employees.• Resident Living - Create and maintain an environment that achieves high quality care (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) of residents and maintain their independence and dignity to the highest degree possible within the Knute Nelson continuum. Works closely with the Director of Clinical Care to fulfill this. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers.• Operational Management - Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices that are consistent with state and federal regulations and established organizational practices. Ensures the quality assurance committee is active and effective in the community. Works to fulfill the strategic goals in all communication, problem-solving and decision-making processes. Create and maintain community-specific policies and practices that are consistent with the needs of the community and supportive of the larger organization's direction. Apply the knowledge and skills needed to do the position, including technical competence in your field; maintain knowledge of organization and industry policies and practices. Use discretion and independent judgment to compare and evaluate possible courses of action and decision-making.• Financial Management - Manage resource allocations in order to achieve or exceed operational goals and works within the approved budget. Ensure adequate staffing in the community that meets resident care needs and financial goals. Communicates financial goals and monthly income statements with operating teams to identify areas of improvement to achieve financial success. Demonstrate good stewardship of available resources.• Communication - Use proactive and positive language; use active listening skills; provide constructive feedback; convey information accurately and timely; communicate openly and directly with others.• Continuous Improvement - Participate in and implement quality performance in all aspects of job responsibilities and functions. Collaborate regularly with other Vivie Housing Executive Director's to establish consistent processes and policy across the division. Serve on committees, community boards or groups, as well as participating in industry events and committees as requested by the Vice President of Housing.
