The mission of the Foundation is to remove financial barriers that obstruct student access to education. Scholarships celebrate academic excellence while assisting those students for whom financial support is a necessity. This could not be possible without the continued investment from our community. Our donors help ease the pressure placed on our students and advance the future through the promise of education. We're looking for a dynamic, experienced fund raiser with an entrepreneurial spirit who will build positive relationships with the community leaders and corporate businesses in Bay, Gulf, and Franklin and other surrounding counties, for the purpose of promoting the mission of the Gulf Coast State College Foundation. Examples of Duties
  • Develop and sustain positive working relationships with local and state elected officials, administrators, alumni, and community contacts.
  • Coordinate with the College President, Executive staff, District Board of Trustees, and the Foundation Board to determine the strategic, capital, and annual needs of the institution.
  • Bear primary responsibility for all fundraising and development efforts of the Foundation, and conduct and record the outcome of measurable numbers of face-to-face visits with donor prospects for the purpose of soliciting major and planned gifts.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising and development plan to include major gift solicitation, planned giving programs, grant solicitation, capital campaigns, alumni and employee giving campaigns, and other campaigns for individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations, while growing a pipeline of new opportunities to support future major gift solicitations.
  • Plan, organize, and direct special events and other fundraising activities to support the Foundation's goals; direct and administer overall strategic planning and activities to achieve outcomes in key areas including donor development, direct fundraising, and Board development.
  • Positively represent the Foundation to constituencies throughout Bay, Gulf, and Franklin counties, the larger Northwest Florida region and beyond as needed, to include businesses, business leaders, and potential donors. The Executive Director will clearly articulate the mission and financial needs of the Foundation to these constituents in support of Foundation activities, programs, and goals.
  • Ensure donors are properly thanked and recognized personally as well as in Foundation publications and the media to include following-up/communicating with prior donors on a periodic basis.
  • Direct and support Foundation special events.
  • Direct the College's pursuit of expanding financial resources and program delivery, as well as identifying the priorities for funding.
  • Prepare, review and/or submit public and private grant proposals; oversee the administration and compliance of grant awards.
  • Represent the Foundation as needed by the Foundation Board of Directors at community events and community organizations.
  • Direct and manage the Foundation's marketing and advertising efforts.
  • Work closely with the Alumni Association Council.
  • Oversee and facilitate alumni programs, services, events and communications.
  • Assist in identifying qualified alumni prospects.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit annual, major, private foundation grants and planned gifts from individuals and corporations.
  • Manage a stewardship program for donors; oversee ongoing efforts to improve membership and alumni relations.
  • Provide assistance to the Foundation President and officers in board material development.
  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages Foundation staff, which includes a staff of three (3). Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or University required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Four (4) or more years of related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate should have a proven track record of raising funds from individuals, businesses, corporations, government entities and foundations.
  • Prior experience with major gifts preferred and foundation and corporate grant-writing.
