Job Description:

The Women's League Child Development Center has been serving Hartford's families since 1917 with the goal of preparing infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to thrive in kindergarten. WLCDC's Early Childhood Education program has been accredited by NAEYC for nearly 30 years and the Center's commitment to excellence is evidenced by the only daycare/preschool STEAM program in Connecticut. The state-of-the-art school has indoor and outdoor learning spaces, 17 classrooms, a team of 65 faculty and staff, and enrollment of approximately 170 students making WLCDC the largest single-site early education center in Greater Hartford.

Mission: Women's League nurtures the holistic development of young children and prepares them to enter kindergarten as curious, creative, confident students who love learning and are equipped to succeed.

With a committed Board and impressive strategic plan, WLCDC is ready to embrace an educational leader as the next Executive Director. This individual will inherit an operationally sound, financially strong organization. With the Center already thriving, the new E.D. will function as a CEO continuing to strengthen existing relationships and building new relationships at the local, regional, and state levels. Key Responsibilities:
  • With the Board, develop a strategic plan every five years.
  • Ensure programs are in alignment with the OEC and NAEYC licensing requirements.
  • Create a comprehensive Development plan to optimize revenue and fundraising opportunities.
  • Ensure that the annual budget aligns with the strategic plan.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Board members.
  • Serve as WLCDC's chief spokesperson.
  • Partner with coalitions to advance awareness around early childhood education.
  • Create an inclusive environment that welcomes families and provides opportunities for parents to participate.
  • Job Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education Administration. Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • 8+ years of Administrative experience in the child development sector with 3+ years as Executive Director.
  • A thorough understanding of financial documents, the budget development process, and experience leading successful fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience in program planning, administration, and evaluation as well as developing curriculum.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead with empathy and build relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Refined communication skills to deliver powerful presentations and serve as an effective spokesperson.
