Location: Seattle,WA, USA

Date: 2024-10-08T01:23:33Z

Job Description:

Founded in 2020, Bridges Alternative Peer Group (APG) is a beacon of hope for teens facing the challenges of addiction. One of the only teen programs serving the greater Seattle area, Bridges is a nonprofit that provides a safe, sober space for teens to recover. We empower teens to develop their identity as people in recovery. We build a safe community to support families and teens, allowing them to reimagine what's possible for their lives.

In addition to our teen program, we offer a parent support group that helps families transition from fear to active involvement in their child's recovery journey. Our evidenced-based program is inclusive, relational, and deeply impactful, providing both practical and emotional support to teens and their families.

With an annual budget of $450,000, three dedicated staff, a talented working board, and committed donors, Bridges has supported over 100 families, achieving an impressive success rate in maintaining long-term sobriety among participants. As demand for our services continues to exceed capacity, we are preparing to expand and deepen our impact. To do this, we are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and empathetic Executive Director to guide Bridges through the next chapter of its growth.

The Role:

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial management of Bridges. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will ensure the successful delivery of programs, oversee staff, lead fundraising efforts, and expand partnerships to increase our reach.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic insight, nonprofit management experience, and a passion for supporting youth in recovery. As ED, you will play a critical role in helping Bridges scale, all while preserving the integrity, compassion, and empathy that define our work.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Growth:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to scale Bridges' program.
  • Increase program capacity by 25-50%.
  • Implement scalable processes that support organizational growth while maintaining program integrity.

Program Management:

  • Develop new activities and services that promote recovery and community engagement.
  • Use data to inform and refine programs.

Board and Leadership Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Board to shape organizational strategy, goals, and policy development.
  • Ensure the organization fulfills its mission by executing the Board's vision.
  • Strengthen governance practices and build a strong partnership with the Board.

Staff Leadership and Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain a talented, dedicated team of staff members and volunteers.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and inclusion where everyone feels valued and empowered.

Fundraising and Donor Engagement:

  • Lead fundraising initiatives to diversify revenue streams and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors, foundations, grantors, and corporate partners.
  • Enhance Bridges' visibility through external communications, representing the organization at public events and in the media.

Organizational Capacity Building:

  • Streamline administrative systems, ensuring efficient financial reporting, program management, and staff and teen onboarding processes.
  • Increase the number of graduates and ensure the program prepares them for life after graduation.
  • Secure a dedicated space for the program, enhancing its accessibility and effectiveness.

Key Qualifications:

Candidates will be evaluated on their lived and learned experience, professional background, volunteer experience, and direct and transferable skills. Bridges is seeking candidates with a compelling combination of demonstrated experience and skills in some or all of the following areas:

  • Proven experience leading a nonprofit organization, department, or division with a budget of $500K+ and 3+ staff.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource development, including individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Expertise in nonprofit management, including program development, budgeting, financial oversight, and staff management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, from teens to executives.
  • Deep understanding of addiction recovery, especially youth-focused programs, with the ability to support both clients and families.
  • Ability to lead with compassion, authenticity, and a commitment to serving others.
  • SUDP (Substance Use Disorder Professional) certification preferred; willingness to pass a background check required.

What We Offer:

  • A collaborative, mission-driven work environment focused on creating positive change for teens and their families.
  • The opportunity to lead an organization on the cusp of significant growth and greater community impact.
