Reports To: Board of Directors

Overview:

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive of The Mosby Foundation, responsible for overseeing administration, fundraising, communications, and compliance. Working closely with staff, volunteers, donors, and community members, the ED advances the organization's mission of improving the health of dogs and keeping them with the families that love them. This role demands strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to ensure success in fulfilling our charitable goals.

Mission Statement

The Mosby Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes to assist in the care for critically sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education.

Core Responsibilities:

Client Interaction and Applications

  • Review applications for assistance, conduct follow-up phone interviews, and communicate pledge award letters to clients.
  • Provide support and resources for prospective clients.
  • Ensure timely grant payments to veterinarians.

Board Communication

  • Update the Board as needed
  • Attend quarterly meetings, prepare documents for meetings

Donor Relations

  • Respond promptly to donor inquiries and ensure timely deposit of donations.
  • Craft engaging communications for donors.

Employee Supervision

  • Supervise a part-time Applications Coordinator, maintaining high service standards and positive interactions.

Financial Management

  • Prepare and present financial statements and ensure proper documentation of funds.

Fundraising

  • Create and manage fundraising events and email campaigns that fit within our core values of supporting the dog-human relationship.
  • Represent the organization at community events.

Grants & Funding

  • Apply for grants, monitor their status, and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations.

Pet Food Pantry Operations

  • Oversee procurement and distribution of pet food donations to clients.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit and train volunteers, fostering a positive experience to encourage long-term involvement.

Website Maintenance

  • Coordinate updates with the volunteer web designer to ensure website functionality.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in nonprofit management or a related field, including executive leadership experience.
  • Experience in grant writing, fundraising, and donor relations.
  • Knowledge of financial management and board governance.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms.
  • Collaborative approach to working with diverse stakeholders.

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a flexible work arrangement. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for events and meetings, along with local travel. A hybrid work setup is possible, with 2 days per week required in the office.
