Overview

Southwest Partnership Inc. [SWP] is a community development nonprofit organization established in 2015 serving Southwest Baltimore. SWP is entering our second decade, we seek a dynamic leader who will lead the organization into our second phase of organizational successes.

A successful candidate will value empowering diverse community voices and ownership in community development work. Community development experience with management, fundraising, and program implementation skills are required.

Management

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors through monthly meetings and works closely with the Executive Committee. The SWP's Board of Directors is composed of local member organizations, community representatives, and anchor institutions.

Responsibilities

The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of SWP Inc. and is responsible, with the Board of Directors, for fulfilling SWP's mission and financial sustainability.

The Executive Director is responsible for all SWP activities, with special emphasis on the following:

Strategic Vision and Leadership

? Create and guide strategic program planning and ensure that the organization's financial and human resources are equipped to meet that plan.

? Building and maintaining a strong organizational culture and unified community consensus around the work of the SWP.

? Maintain a strong working relationship with the Board President, Executive Committee, Governance Chair and Board as a whole, to ensure that the Board achieves its goals and essential functions, including onboarding and orienting new members.

? The Executive Director is the principal voice to community officials, stakeholders, and partners for SWP.

? Liaising with and maintaining a working knowledge of significant developments with Southwest Partnership Committees, other community groups, organizations, city and state government, property owners and developers, and individuals.

Program Management

? Understanding and embracing the SWP Plan and Vision ( for Southwest Baltimore and providing leadership and direction in implementing the Plan.

? Meet fundraising goals set forth in the SWP budget and program and development plans.

? Maintain partnerships with current funders and partners to meet program and budget needs.

? Manage program staff to ensure that programs are resourced, successful, and align with and advance the goals and priorities of the community and the Vision Plan.

Business Management

? Working with administrative staff to maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, be responsible for preparing an annual budget for review and approval by the Board and see that the organization operates within budget guidelines.

? Maintaining sound financial practices for the organization.

? Maintaining sound contract, MOU and other required reporting and legal documents.

Personnel Management

? Overseeing all staff activities, including hiring and termination of staff, and ensuring that staff activities reflect the values of the organization.

Skills Required

The Executive Director position requires a dynamic leader, someone experienced in transformative neighborhood improvement, engaged community process, and operations of a small nonprofit organization. More specifically, the successful candidate for this position should have experience in:

? Fundraising, grant proposal writing, and government and foundation relations.

? Community development in urban environments, especially community economic and commercial and/or residential development.

? Operating aboard-governed organization, preferably one that is neighborhood based.

? Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.

? Managing and motivating volunteers and staff.

? Fluency with the latest information technology software, programs, and tools.

? Leading and navigating in a diverse environment. ? Working well with community leaders and advocates.

? Collaborating successfully with governments, foundations, anchor institutions, individuals, and other partners and stakeholders necessary for the improvement of the neighborhood.

? Program management.

? Promoting and marketing the neighborhoods.

? Developing neighborhood leadership.

? Managing the fiscal affairs of the organization through support of the Finance and Audit Committee.

? Overseeing the physical development of key properties within the neighborhoods.

? Maintaining a communication system that ensures broad public participation in the organization.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

SWP staff work primarily out of the SWP offices at 1317 W Baltimore St. A flexible work schedule is permitted based on performance. The work is primarily sedentary and involves:

? Some reaching, carrying, and bending.

? Some local travel for meetings and events.

? Occasional exposure to weather conditions at outdoor events.

? Occasional event preparation, including setting up and breaking down of marketing/booth equipment at local events.

? Use of computers, monitors, and phones.

? Frequent engagement and observation of staff performing day to day program operations.

Weekend, evening, and special events will be required outside of core business hours. Committee and community meetings are regularly held in the evenings.

Qualifications

The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate 3 or more years of increasingly responsible experience working in community development, demonstrated experience in resource development and economic and community development, and experience in business, financial, and personnel management.

A candidate with a degree and/or formal training in community development is preferred as is a candidate with experience in nonprofit management.

Compensation and benefits Salary is commensurate with experience and is currently budgeted at $110,000- $125,000. Please state desired compensation in the cover letter.

Healthcare reimbursement or health stipend is provided as well as twenty days of PTO and 11 paid holidays.
