Position Type: Administration/Executive DirectorDate Posted: 11/20/2023Location: Administration Center - Allentown, PA Executive Director of Professional Learning Salary: $113,504-$158,905 Qualifications: A bachelor's in education and/or other related field of study and hold a valid and current Pennsylvania Instructional II Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate and Principal or Supervisory Certificate. A Master's Degree in the area(s) of Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Supervision. A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience and three (3) years of administrative experience including a combination of school-level and district-level. Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151) Excellent communication skills Recent experience in planning and administering school-wide and/or district-wide professional development, preferred Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills Knowledge of and flexibility in the use of technology and software programs typically used within the classroom Knowledge of best practices in professional development, theories of adult learning, and Pennsylvania Department of Education Professional Development requirements. A valid and current operator's license for a motor vehicle and have access to an operable vehicle for traveling within and outside the district Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or Superintendent may determine. Summary The Executive Director of Professional Learning plans, directs, administers, and coordinates best practices in learning and teaching strategies. The Executive Director of Professional Learning develops, monitors, and evaluates a comprehensive professional development plan and calendar in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the superintendent and school board. The Executive Director of Professional Learning performs the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the District's Professional Development Plan for all instructional, professional, administrative, and non-certified staff in collaboration will all District stakeholders.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing administrative retreats and Executive Leadership Learning Academies in support of District initiatives, strategic planning, and student learning outcomes.
  • Processes conference and professional development attendance forms for all employees following supervisory approvals and prepares associated reports.
  • Facilitates the offering of research-based staff development opportunities that are aligned with district goals for achieving exemplary performance by students, faculty and staff members
  • Coordinates procedures, timetables, selection of coordinators/presenters, assignment of sites and participants, the preparation and timely dissemination of notices, and all other practical elements for staff development programs.
  • Develops a District-wide professional development calendar and oversees the district directed professional development day.
  • Provides support and collaboration with principals in the development and delivery of school level professional learning and development opportunities.
  • Supports professional development initiatives outlined in school improvement plans. Plans and implements summer professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Grant Development & Institutional Advancement and Director of Federal Programs to utilize professional development funds from grants.
  • Collaborates with appropriate personnel in the development, writing, and implementation of proposals and board memos to acquire approval and/or funding.
  • Incorporates, within staff development programs, an awareness of adult learning styles and the adjustments essential to facilitate change
  • Monitors the instructional practices of staff members in maintaining learned skills in professional development through consultation with principals.
  • Designs a system to identify and share best practices among district personnel and employees.
  • Conducts evaluations of staff development's effectiveness in achieving district and school goals for student learning.
  • Focuses professional development based on new instructional initiatives, data analysis and staff need.
  • Serves as a liaison between the School District and other organizations offering professional development.
  • Collaborates with Executive Director of Human Resources for the development of orientation programs for teaching staff, day-by-day substitute teachers, administrators, professionals, secretaries, and paraprofessionals.
  • Prepares and manages the district's budget for professional and staff development.
  • Performs such tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chief Academic Officer/Deputy Superintendent and/or Superintendent
