Department:THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRSThe division is undergoing an exciting reorganization, which includes several new departments and realignments. The staff and over 200 paraprofessionals provide care, connections, facilities, services, and programs that support the academic mission of the University and enhance the quality of life for students living on campus. The Residential Life staff and faculty-mentors foster the personal, social, academic, and leadership development of students, preparing them to be active and responsible citizens within UMBC and beyond.The UMBC housing portfolio generates approximately $29 million in annual revenue and includes six Residential halls and four apartment communities, one of which is a public-private partnership with 582 beds, Walker Avenue Apartments. Walker serves students who have earned thirty or more credits and is the only option available to graduate students at this time.Position Overview:The Executive Director will oversee residential education, assignments, and housing operations, promoting a culture that respects and honors the identity and diverse needs of students. The courageous decision-maker and dynamic leader will develop a strategic vision that will strengthen service delivery, promote solutions, and empower others to lead and manage with equity in mind. At the intersection of student development and customer service, this position will serve as a critical link to university offices and departments in addressing student needs. An advanced degree is required, along with demonstrated progressive administrative and leadership experience in a similarly constituted institution.
