Executive Director of Safety & Security Position Summary: The Executive Director of Safety and Security provides strategic leadership to ensure district-wide compliance with safety and security standards. This role develops, implements, and oversees programs that protect the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and facilities. The Executive Director fosters a proactive approach to emergency preparedness and regulatory compliance by aligning safety and security initiatives with federal, state, and local regulations. - Collaborate across district divisions to ensure safety, security, and emergency management initiatives align with the district's mission and strategic goals.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, transparency, and integrity in all safety and security matters.
- Represent the district in community and industry safety groups, strengthening relationships with local law enforcement, first responders, and community partners.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive approach to managing safety and security, building trust and confidence among students, staff, and families.
Great Systems - Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety and security programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to minimize risks, ensure compliance, and foster a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor and maintain safety and security systems, equipment, and inventory to ensure operational readiness.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead the district's emergency preparedness efforts, including developing response plans, drills, and training for staff and students.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all safety and security incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.

- Serve as the chief liaison to the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program and local law enforcement agencies.

Minimum Qualifications Education: - Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Safety, or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: - Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in safety, security, law enforcement, or related fields, with a minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA) and risk management.
Skills and Certifications: - Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety/security software systems.
- C.L.E.E.T. certification is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and other laws governing privacy, public records, and information security.
- Ability to carry and use a weapon responsibly and safely.
Supervisory Responsibilities - Direct and manage safety and security personnel to ensure effective operations and compliance with policies and regulations.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements - Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
