  • Current NMPED Educational Administration License
  • Master's Degree in Education or related field
  • Administrative Experience, principal experience preferred
REPORTS TO: SuperintendentSUPERVISES: Such staff members as the superintendent may designate.JOB GOAL: To enable all students to benefit from their educational opportunities to the fullest by eliminating, as far as possible, those problems that prevent or interfere with student learning.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Guide the effective implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) K-12;
  • Prepare and administer the student services budget, which includes federal funds allocated for specific programs;
  • Oversee registration, transfer, withdrawal and disenrollment procedures for all students and address related issues as they arise;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the laws and requirements for implementing curriculum to support social-emotional development and anti-bullying efforts in schools;
  • Effectively address student related concerns and issues raised by parents and other community members;
  • Oversee the case study services for students, including the identification, diagnosis, follow-up, and referral of students with problems related to attendance, mental health, or learning disabilities;
  • Guide the effective implementation of the District's policy and state law on student conduct and discipline;
  • Assist building administrators in appropriate student disciplinary action;
  • Collect, interpret and utilize student discipline data to inform decision making;
  • Supervise and coordinate the student hearing process, including a review of findings and implementation of corrective action;
  • Works with attorneys on student issues involving the Office of Civil Rights, Tort Claims or court documents for custody;
  • Ensures the timely completion of Federal and State data collection in the areas of Civil Rights, Free and Reduced Lunch, attendance, dropouts, National Student Clearing House for Graduated Seniors, PBIS and other student support programs, etc.;
  • Oversee and coordinate the management of the District's AES program, Enchanted Mesa Daycare, SAFE Program, Impact Youth Mentoring Program, General Education Homebound and Student Services related committees;
  • Act as the District's Title IX Coordinator to coordinate the District's compliance with Title IX, including overseeing all sex discrimination complaints and identifying and addressing any patterns or systematic problems that arise during the review of such complaints;
  • Supervise and coordinate the student health and nursing services program/s for the district, which includes participation and evaluations of the Professional Development Plans with supplemental input from each site administrator;
  • Oversee the District's Truancy Officers and related processes;
  • Conduct a continuing study of dropouts and graduates;
  • Coordinate K-12 district counseling services, which includes participation and evaluations of the Professional Development Plans with secondary site administrators;
  • Maintain a strong understanding of district and school policies and presents updates or changes to the Board of Education as necessary;
  • Establish effective working relationships with the various offices and agencies within the community that may provide specialized or professional help to students and their parents, and serves as the referral agent to those offices and agencies;
  • Establish effective working relationships with other institutions of the town, region, and state that may provide necessary resources or services to students in need;
  • Represent the district in regional, state, and Public Education Department sponsored research and/or other projects in matters related to student services; and
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Superintendent.
