Summary of Job Duties:

The Executive Director of Workforce Development, reporting to the Office of the Provost, will lead workforce development initiatives in collaboration with Academic Affairs and other university administrators. Working closely with College Deans, the Director will cultivate community partnerships that support strategic development efforts. Responsibilities include overseeing extended education, career services, and K-12 career pathway programs. This role calls for a visionary leader to enhance the university's impact through innovative non-credit and credit programs designed for lifelong learners, professionals seeking skill advancement, and community enrichment.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

* Master's degree OR a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in workforce development;

* Five (5) or more years of connectivity experience with local, regional, or national business communities;

* Five (5) or more years of success in securing grants, fostering industry partnerships, and developing innovative training programs;

* Five (5) or more years of grant writing experience (writing sample required).

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

* Experience with online education platforms and stackable credentialing;

* Proven record of work with apprenticeship and internship program options;

* Experience in higher education.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Take the lead in the establishment of a workforce development center;

* Implementation of workforce development programs and initiatives;

* Interface with community partners to develop programming to meet their needs;

* Collaborate with colleges, departments, and schools to create career pathways and workforce readiness programs specific to the needs of the community;

* Engage university stakeholders, and industry leaders to assess workforce needs;

* Co-create relevant curricula, and develop partnerships for internships, co-op programs, and apprenticeships;

* Coordinate with the university, communications department, career services team, and the extended education team to develop a communications plan that will market workforce development and support initiatives;

* Lead efforts to design and implement workforce pathway programs, including credit and non-credit micro-credentials, stackable credentials, prior learning credit, and upskilling opportunities;

* Work closely with local businesses, K-12 institutions, community colleges, and apprenticeship programs to establish clear career pathways, including dual enrollment and concurrent enrollment programs;

* Ensure that workforce programs are aligned with federal and state legislation and regulations, positioning UA Little Rock to benefit from potential grants and funding opportunities;

* Comply with current state and federal laws and initiatives as they relate to workforce development;

* Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor for University Affairs to develop relationships with local, state, and federal government officials connected to workforce development;

* Manage the center's budget to ensure programs are financially viable and adhere to university policies;

* Assess program effectiveness, monitor student internships, track student outcomes, and make data-driven decisions to refine and enhance workforce development initiatives;

* Member of the Provost's Leadership Team;

* Additional duties as assigned by the Provost.
