Phoenix School of Roseburg's Executive Director is responsible for initiating, recommending, and implementing overall leadership for the Phoenix School of Roseburg Corporation and its subsidiary corporation(s) including Phoenix Charter School. The position provides an opportunity for the employee who desires to manage an enterprise with diverse and complex programs designed to prepare individuals to become caring, committed, productive citizens including educational options, workforce development, and social support programming and services.
Direct reporters to this position include administrative and operations personnel such as the Charter School Principal, Program Managers, Development Director, Executive Assistant, and Business Manager. The Executive Director is the Agent of and responsible to the Boards of Director for the Phoenix Charter School and Phoenix School of Roseburg Corporation.
Qualifications and Abilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or comparable.
Successful experience in Educational and Private Non-Profit Management
Demonstrated leadership and supervision skills including the ability to support employee improvement and/or impose appropriate discipline.
Hold a current Oregon School Administrator's license or hold or become qualified for an Oregon Charter Administrative Registry
Have a valid driver's license and evidence of insurability, and criminal justice fingerprint clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in managing private non-profit corporation systems including Human Relations, Fiscal Management, Grants Management, MOUs and Contracts, and Community Partnerships/Collective Work
Teaching or administrative experience with programming benefitting Opportunity Youth, special education, trauma affected youth, and/or diverse and/or underserved student populations
Board Leadership Facilitation:
Preparing and recommending a vision and strategic plan for the Charter School and the Corporation that reflects creativity and continuous change to ensure long term-success
Providing leadership and initiating support for all Board and Staff committees, assuring that committees are timely and effective in completing and reporting their work
Initiating and executing regular Board meeting agendas and participating as an adviser to the Board
Carrying out Board policies, administrative rules, organizational by-laws; and initiating new policies for Board consideration.
Informing the Board of developments, issues, and barriers in a timely, proactive manner
Recruitment, training, evaluating, and recommending staff for hiring, retention, promotion and dismissal
Providing leadership for successful relationships and outcomes with stakeholders including Roseburg School District and other community partners
Providing leadership in partnership with the Charter School principal in the development, revision, and implementation of all school academic and academic support programs
Preparing and monitoring the annual school budget in concert with the principal; preparing and monitoring the corporation budget and annual auditing process
Initiating and directing the school marketing and public relations program
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Board
Administrative Leadership:
Working with the staff to prepare ongoing strategic plan updates for Board consideration
Supervising and evaluating school and corporation programs and employees
Working closely with Lead Staff to monitor and evaluate the budgets for all operations
Insuring communications between all areas of the Charter School and Corporation
Developing and implementing the internal school and organization planning and improvement processes
Working closely with all staff to promote a high level of morale, professionalism, and inspired teamwork
Facilitating and compiling required external reports and requests for special funding
Serving as a liaison between Phoenix School and the community
Overseeing the operation, management, and development of school facilities, property, and campus
Coordinating with the Business Manager to conduct fiscal and human resource functions
Key Leadership Roles for the Corporation by Serving as the following:
Representative to the community and external agencies, promoting community awareness, involvement, and commitment to Phoenix Charter School and the Corporation

Risk Manager
