Business Unit Description
The US Capital Markets Business Management group provides direct day-to-day support andcoverage for CIBC's US Capital Markets business. The group's primary role is to assist in achieving the mandate to be a premier client-focused global bank. The US Capital Markets Business Management group serves as the primary liaison between the Capital Markets business and their supporting infrastructure groups as well as their internal and external vendors, brokers and suppliers. The US Capital Markets Business Management also strives to ensure a sound control environment and provides sound advice in support of business strategy.
Job Purpose
To serve as an extension of the Corporate and Investment Banking revenue generating business team(s) we support by providing a strong level of support across several facets including but not limited to; new business initiatives, management reporting, governance and controls and internal audit/deficiency remediations.
What You'll Be Doing
- New Business Initiatives
- Works with business sponsor to drive work effort
- Takes ownership of CIBC's Change Initiative Risk Assessment “CIRA” process:
- Manages and drives product/strategy expansions in support of US strategic growth plans; coordinate and draft project plans and business requirements for new initiatives
- Manages overall effort and establishes individual workstreams responsible for certain deliverables
- Governance and Controls
- Acts as the first line of defense for business
- Engages with Enterprise Risk to deliver on Risk Appetite Statement and Product Risk Statement work
- Establishes business operating procedures as related to regulatory findings
- Coordinates and contributes to responses of various internal and external auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports; remains apprised of the ever-changing and applicable regulations and laws; ensures regulatory requirements and CIBC policies are understood, implemented and monitored successfully.
- Internal audits and controls testing point person
- Manages an effective and documented internal control structure is in place, as evidenced through updates and maintenance of policies and procedures as well as adherence to, and successful testing of, internal controls and logical access reviews; maintain, support and enhance the information risk policies, standards, guidelines, processes and metrics
- Management Reporting
- Ad-hoc analyses in support of the businesses we support inclusive of requests from Business Head(s) and Capital Markets Head:

- Effectively manages juniors on team
- Responsive and accessible to the business throughout the day
- Builds and maintains working relationships with stakeholders across the different businesses our team supports including up to Senior Management levels
- Prioritizes, directs and implements assignments/projects/initiatives, and resolve issues/problems to ensure front office staff can focus on the specialized roles for which they have been employed
- Partners with infrastructure groups on both internal and external facing initiatives on behalf of the business

Who You Are
- Direct experience working with Corporate Banking/Institutional Lending, preferably in a COO/Business Manager capacity
- Knowledge of Investment Banking business a plus
- Ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage to changes in plan
- Highly motivated, self-starter; able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment, with limited management oversight
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively and comfortably with senior people; excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in Capital Markets
- Experience working in the financial services industry, or accounting, consulting and finance backgrounds preferred
- Master's degree in relevant field

- As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of USD$180,000-230,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
