Position SummaryThe xito K-3 Literacy Tutor works in the xito K-3 Literacy Strategy program, to provide targeted literacy interventions to kindergarten students, and follow those same students through 3rd grade to ensure literacy proficiency by 4th grade. This position works in the Pan American Academy Charter School (PAACS) and identifies the highest need students to provide in-school literacy interventions and assessments. The xito K-3 Literacy Tutor engages small groups of students with identified academic barriers to test and implement a variety of literacy interventions and monitor student progress. Additionally, this position collaborates with the xito K-3 Literacy Leader to support the design and implementation of literacy interventions for the in-school and afterschool programs, with the main goal of developing proficient literacy skills that support academic growth.This position reports to the xito K-3 Literacy Leader. This is an ONSITE position with onsite work conducted at Congreso's main office and Pan American Academy Charter School (PAACS) and/or Julia De Burgos (JDB) school.The xito K-3 Literacy Tutor applies the principles of the organization's signature service delivery approach, Primary Client Model (PCM), by promoting a positive employee/client-focused experience that is appreciative of the unique strengths, values and needs that each individual brings; and by using data to inform and drive decision making. - Collaborates with supervisor and other tutors to develop a targeted approach of delivering 1:1 or small group instruction to students using a variety of activities to reinforce learning and development.
- Collaborates with the xito K-3 Literacy Leader to develop individualized student learning goals, achievements, and overall progress to ensure client success.
- Sets individual and small group goals for literacy milestones based on student data and ensures lesson plans are tied to desired milestones.
- Works with small groups of students with identified academic barriers in afterschool settings to test and implement a variety of academic interventions and monitor student progress.
- Monitors homework completion and reading minutes as determined by model outcomes.
- Documents each individual/group session with the skills practiced or mastered and sets a goal for the next session.
- Consistently communicates with the xito K-3 team members as well as classroom instructors and school administrators to provide student progress updates.

Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Experience, Education, and QualificationsMinimum Education:High school diploma or GED/HISET required. Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field a plus.Minimum Experience:A minimum of 2 years' work experience in early childhood education or afterschool settings providing academic and/or literacy support required. Certification/License:Mandated Reporter and VRA training certificates are required and may be completed post hire.
