Serco is seeking a motivated Experienced Software Engineer to join our talented team of 10 - (100% Remote) !Serco supports CMS, a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to continue supporting eligibility determinations for consumers purchasing health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges.As an Experienced Software Engineer , you will be responsible for designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing, and maintaining applications specific to our Appian Implementation .This role can be worked from our Herndon, VA office or 100% remoteIn this role you will:Perform the role of a lead DeveloperDevelop and unit test code following development standards according to requirementsAble to work independently and support team in performing complicated tasksMaintain and implement new development standardsParticipate in Code Peer reviews of high complexity ticketsFollow SDLC processes during day to day work and actively monitor that these are being met by the teamManage Appian Objects/Packages/Applications from their Creation through Deployment to Higher EnvironmentsTrained in SAFE Agile Methodologies and can perform the role of a Scrum Master to conduct the SAFe ceremoniesLead discussion in team meetings: Daily Scrum, Design Reviews, Iteration Planning, and PI PlanningOwn and produce design documentation such as Detailed Design Documents, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Decision TablesParticipate in Document Peer Reviews (DPR) of deliverables to our clientProvide updates to the team about status of ongoing workProvide updates to management for ongoing projectsProduction SupportSupport an On-Call Rotation which includes Weekend Monitoring and DeploymentsExpected to be able to join and contribute to SRT CallsAdditional Technical SkillsAdvanced Knowledge of MS SQL in building Tables, Views, and Stored ProceduresExperience designing and integrating with SOAP and RESTful web servicesFamiliarity with using and designing data exchanges with JSON and XMLExperience working in Cloud Native Environments (On-Prem installations is great but not required)Business Analysis/Requirements GatheringWork with business and functional teams to understand functional and technical requirementsWork directly with the stakeholders in joint exploratory design to provide new business valueAbility to understand Acceptance Criteria and Technical Requirements, and develop code accordinglyAbility to review functional and business requirements, provide feedback, and write technical requirementsExpected to ensure all requirements are understood and correct by team developing codeResponsible for impact analysis of new requirementsAdvise and guide the business in Appian Best PracticesWork directly with the Vendor (Appian Support Team) to maintain our environments:Troubleshoot production issues and make environment changesDelegate Support Cases internallyRestarting EnvironmentsWeb certificate renewalApplying Environment HotfixesVPN Configuration UpdatesFedRAMP Update ValidationAdvanced troubleshooting of environment issuesAbility to lead Environment Upgrades, including planning, troubleshooting, and assistance in performing UpgradeWork with our internal IT Operations and App Dev teams to maintain our environments:Certificate renewalAPI Key renewalLDAP/SAML AuthenticationQualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will have:United States Citizenship/Green CardA Bachelor's DegreeMinimum 5 years of relevant industry experienceAdvanced experience designing and developing with Appian Design Components:SAIL Interfaces and ExpressionsCDTs and XSDsData Sources and Data Store EntitiesProcess ModelsConnected SystemsIntegrationsWeb APIsSitesSecurity (Users and Groups)Understanding of best practices when building high performing QueriesProcess ReportsAdvanced experience with SQL and SQL technologies (such as MS SQL)Enthusiasm for software development, innovation, and a desire to work in a great team atmosphereA wide degree of creativity and latitude is expectedAbility to travel up to 10%Additional desired experience and skills:AWS CertificationsUnderstanding of Agile/SAFe methodologiesFamiliarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, SOAP, RPC)Familiarity with using and designing data exchanges with JSON and XMLFamiliarity navigating a Linux environment using command lineIn compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $112,133.01 to $186,888.35; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.Company OverviewSerco Inc.
