ABOUT THE TEAMMTC's Express Lanes staff is responsible for operating, maintaining and managing MTC's portion of the Bay Area Express Lanes Network ( Network ). The Express Lanes staff also facilitates the growth of the network with roles in planning, developing, designing, constructing and funding Network expansion, coordinates with other public agencies that operate and develop Bay Area Express Lanes (Partner Agencies) to expand and manage the Network, and partners with MTC's Regional Planning Program on the development of pricing strategies for the region's long-range plan (Plan Bay Area), as well as on nearer-term implementation studies related to road pricing.ABOUT THE ROLE The Express Lanes Network Planning Coordinator position will be filled at either the Assistant or Associate level depending on experience and qualifications. This position will support the Express Lanes Program in three key areas:
Day-to-day management of MTC's Express Lanes by helping with public information and evaluation. Furtherance of the strategies in the Express Lanes Network 2021 Strategic Plan and the development of the next plan. Studies as needed related to long range regional planning, regional pricing approaches, funding, or other future polices, regulations, etc.The position is in the Express Lanes team of the Capital Delivery, Asset Management, and Roadside Tolling (CART) Section. Under the close or general direction of the Principal, Express Lanes Strategy and Planning, the Express Lanes Network Planning Coordinator will support ongoing project management and administrative activities; the implementation of policies, pilots and programs; Strategic Plan development, and special studies as needed related to planning, feasibility, operational evaluation, corridor assessment, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support the development and implementation of express lanes public information
- Support the evaluation of express lane operations and initiatives with data compilation and analysis
- Support the development and implementation of pilots and approaches to improve express lane operations and further express lane goals.
- Support the update of the Bay Area Express Lanes Network Strategic Plan.
- Support advancing the recommendations of the Next Generation Bay Area Freeways planning study, including further developing strategies and studies for operations, technology, and implementation.
- Coordinate with staff across MTC sections and with partner agencies including county transportation agencies and Caltrans.
- Coordinate and manage work performed by one or more consultants.
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting notes, and follow up on meeting action items for the Project Management Team and other staff/stakeholder meetings.
- Maintain project schedules and schedule management, including updating tasks in Asana.
- Support contract administration.
