What You Will DoAs an Extended Learning Support Teacher at Achievement Prep, you will play a critical role in providing additional support and enrichment opportunities to scholars ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to 7th Grades. In this role, you will work alongside a transformative team of educators to reinforce and extend upon classroom learning by providing targeted academic support, physical enrichment and social-emotional skill development. The Extended Learning Support Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, families and other school personnel to create and maintain a learning environment that prepares students to excel as high-achieving scholars and leaders in highschool, college and beyond. This is a part-time, 10-month exempt role. Extended Learning Support teachers will have the opportunity to work full-time during the months of June-August for summer programming.Reporting to the Manager of Extended Learning, you will:
- Be on site outside of regular school hours. (6:30 AM- 8:00 AM Mon.-Fri., 3:30 PM- 6:00 PM Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri, 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Wednesdays)
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for all scholars.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all scholars during extended learning sessions, transitions and breaks.
- Provide targeted academic support in subjects such as math, literacy, science and social studies.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance and behavior.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress.
- Incorporate hands-on activities, project-based learning and other interactive methods to enhance scholar experience.
- Participate in professional development, 1:1 coaching, workshops and training to improve teaching practices.
- Complete quarterly evaluations in the following domains:
- Scholar Interaction
- Behavior Management
- Safety and Supervision
- Activity Planning and Implementation
- Overall Contribution to Program Culture
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school Diploma or Equivalent
- Commitment to Achievement Prep's vision and mission
Desired Qualifications
- Child Development Credential, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Experience teaching or supporting students in K-12 settings; particularly in after-school or summer school programs, in underserved communities
- Experience with trauma-informed practices and strategies to support students' mental health and well-being
