Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Small Business Technical Assistance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing technical support to entrepreneurs, small business owners, agri-businesses, and landowners. This position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs, conducting community seminars, and offering relevant training sessions to various audiences.
This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs, small business owners, agri-businesses, and landowners on financial resources, business planning, marketing, budgeting, efficient agri-business practices, and business development issues.
* Support county staff by developing curriculum and providing instruction to support programs such as the Businesses-In-Development state contracting program.
Conduct community seminars on small business lending, government contracting, understanding credit, debt management, youth entrepreneurship, asset building, etc.
* Conduct relevant training and workshops for county staff, University students, and University personnel as appropriate.
* Demonstrate the ability to write grants and establish partnerships that pool and/or leverage public and private funds in support of Extension's mission.
* Work evenings on a regular basis and occasionally on weekends, as needed to meet local needs (not to exceed 40 work hours).
* Plan, implement, and evaluate culturally competent educational programs that reach a wide range of audiences.
* Develop plans of work based on ongoing assessment of community needs.
* Develop and follow a personal plan for professional development in the area of community resource development and outreach education methodology consistent with personal and organizational goals.
* Take responsibility for the Development Lending Center in support of Micro-Lending to small business clients.
Education and Experience:
* Master Degree.
* Five years of related professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with co-workers, supervisors, and clientele.
