Job Description:
Our client, a national construction/real estate company, is looking for an External Communications Specialist to join their team 11/1 through 2/1/25 with the possibility to extend or go fulltime for the right fit. This role is ideally hybrid onsite 1-2 days per week at one of their hubs: Houston, Nashville, Denver, and Phoenix.Position OverviewThe External Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies that enhance the organizations visibility and reputation. This role focuses on crafting compelling messages for external audiences, managing media relations, and coordinating communication activities across various platforms.Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute communication plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Write, edit, and proofread press releases, articles, and other external communications materials.
  • Manage and maintain the organization's social media presence, ensuring timely and engaging content.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather information and create cohesive messaging.
  • Cultivate relationships with media representatives to secure coverage and enhance public relations efforts.
  • Monitor media coverage and public perception of the organization, providing reports and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of executive messaging and prepare materials for public appearances.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a communications/PR role.
  • Proven experience in editing and copywriting for external audiences.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices in communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to create and implement strategic communication plans effectively.
  • Experience in crafting press releases and engaging with media outlets.
