Job Description:

Extra-Help are not entitled to county benefits and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week.

The individual hired for this position will be expected to work various shift and be able to complete multiple tasks, from sorting and inventorying equipment to general field maintenance that will assist the communities we serve, as needed.

Youth Sports Knowledge is highly desirable.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

* Plan, organize and supervise recreation programs at playgrounds, community centers or other recreational facilities.

* Supervise group leaders in special programs.

* May work with school and community groups on matters of recreational interest.

* Assist in the inspection of recreation and parks facilities.

Experience

None required, at least 16 years of age.

license:

Possess a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and maintain.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

PASS A CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK PURSUANT TO THE HUMAN RESOURCES RULES AND REGULATIONS, SECTION 2, BESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Organize basic recreation programs.

* Inspect recreation and park facilities.

* Work with school and community groups.

* Supervise group leaders.

* Operate a personal computer and other modern office equipment.

* Repetitive motion, sitting for long periods, walking.

* Occasional standing, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, climbing.

* Lifting - Frequently 5 pounds or less; occasionally 5 to 30 pounds.

* Constant good overall vision and reading and close-up work.

* Frequent color perception and use of eye/hand coordination.

* Occasional use of depth perception and peripheral vision.

* Normal dexterity with frequent writing.

* Frequent hearing of normal speech, hearing/talking on the telephone, talking in person.

* Frequent decision making, concentration, and public contact.

* Some assignments may require working weekends, nights, and/or occasional overtime.

* Occasional exposure to noise; occasional contact with dirt, dust, indoor/outdoor cold and heat.

* Occasional exposure to varied weather conditions.

* Regular attendance is an essential function.

Knowledge of:

* Recreational activities suitable for young children, adolescents and adults.

* Objectives, methods and techniques of planned recreation.

* Youth sports, arts and crafts, and other special recreation programs.

Ability to:

* Direct recreation programs.

* Organize and direct activities in groups using recreational facilities.

* Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
