Slitter Operator

Job Summary
Slitting Operators will set up, maintain and operate machinery, ensuring efficient production. Slitter Operators are reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. The operator in this position should have a willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with coworkers. The goal in this position is to ensure production procedures are carried out safely to maximize efficiency and profits.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Follow established procedures in all areas.
* Stage all supplies and raw materials.
* Use and understand measuring equipment.
* Be familiar with applicable software and printers.
* Input operating parameters.
* Load rolls.
* Operate the slitter.
* Apply shrink wrap on rolls for slitting.
* Package, remove and lift rolls.
* Identify and address known defects.
* Correctly complete required paperwork daily.
* Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor.
* Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
* Use personal safeguards for hands, feet and eyes as prescribed.
* Perform related and other duties assigned by supervisor.
* Load and unload rolls weighing 42 to 200 lbs. each.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma/GED.
* Stand, walk, push, pull, reach, bend, turn, squat and lift.
* Exert 50 to 200 pounds of force frequently.
* Able to lift 50-75 lbs. frequently.
* Ability to operate a forklift, or successfully complete forklift training.
* Must be agile.
* Must be a team player.
* Willingness to be flexible with task assignments (moving from line to line as needed).
* Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing: raise bar above the head with both arms; applying downward force with both arms, beginning at head level down to waist level.
* Perform repetitive tasks with the use of shrink wrapper requiring the use of both arms, applying constant and intermittent horizontal force.
Certifications Required
* Forklift training and certification
* Successful completion of Slitter training program
