A family owned and operated metal stamping and fabricating facility is seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Engineer to join their world class team in Schiller Park Illinois.
Responsibilities:
• Provide overall direction to the engineering function through the development of engineering policies and procedures consistent with organizational requirements and corporate standards.
• Manages and coordinates the activities of the product realization planning process to improve quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction.
• Support global customer team activities and assist in the management of critical issues, if necessary, through direct involvement with customers.
• Suggests new methods or technology and recommends options to improve current products, processes, etc.
• Incorporate the latest developments in tooling, equipment, and materials to achieve production volumes at the highest quality and lowest cost.
• Analyze the causes and effects of major tooling difficulties, using statistical analysis methods to develop recommendations and action plans for solutions.
• Assist the Sales Department to determine manufacturing feasibility for product design and assist in answering engineering related questions, concerns or use of expertise to help progress new projects and product.
• Drive and help implement product modification processes to enhance product performance, improve reliability, reduce cost, and improve ease of manufacturing.
• Review design criteria of existing products to ensure considerations for improved performance and efficiency are incorporated into these products which make them more feature rich at reduced cost.
• Work closely with sales and operations on issues relating to current and future product requirements and implements product design efforts which meet the evolving need of the customers.
• Provides direction, forecasts work activities for self and others while maintaining positive employee relations and fosters a team working environment.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related study. Strongly preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering. Required.
• 2+ years of experience in tooling and fixtures, design, material processing, cost analysis, material handling, and personal computing. Required.
• 2+ years of work experience in a metal stamping facility. Required.
• 2+ years' experience working with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, ProE, etc., or extensive knowledge of programs. Required.
• 2+ years of experience working with ISO or TS16949 standard requirements and quality management systems. Required.
• Proficiency in the use of statistical analysis methods of problem solving. Required.
• Knowledge of APQP project management and GD&T specifications. Preferred.
• Amada and Salvagnini software experience. Preferred
