The Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting numerical controlled manufacturing equipment and sub- assembly operations by solving equipment issues, improving quality, and supporting sustaining daily needs within the fabrication department. This position is also responsible for communicating information between shifts for direct employees, maintenance staff, and supervisors.
Responsibilities/Duties:
* Oversees fabrication manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, sheet metal and tube bending, and metal punching
* Establishes written standard operating procedures and equipment logs for various machines and processes. Works with engineering on functionality issues and procedure updates.
* Leads and /or participates in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) projects including safety, quality, efficiency, and cost improvement initiatives.
* Assists in the planning, execution and interpretation of designed experiments to identify and characterize critical process factors.
* Develops and administers key performance indicators such as scrap rate, uptime, and efficiency for various work centers.
* Troubleshoots and establishes corrective actions for equipment and processing issues. Shares root cause and lessons learned with the manufacturing team.
* Provides technical assistance and guidance to other departmental personnel.
* Assists production in guiding and training operators and assuring completion of daily schedules.
* Performs time studies and maintains labor routings for fabrication equipment and processes.
* Performs limited equipment maintenance such as laser head cleaning, calibration, and other identified maintenance needs
* Assists in the execution of engineering change orders and phase in/out of parts per distribution requirements.
* Coordinates prototype parts per work requests.
* Assists in quality inspections of prototype and in-process production parts.
* Assists with the installation, debugging, and validation of new equipment.
* Contributes to team accountabilities by accomplishing other manufacturing tasks as required.
* Understands and follows all company policies and safety regulations.
Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree (2yr-4yr), and or post-high school trade education preferred
* Minimum of 2 years of experience with automated manufacturing equipment required
* Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a production environment required
* Fabrication software background (AutoCad, Automation, laser nesting software) required
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access
