As a member of Simtech's fabrication department, you will play a vital role in our operations, working alongside a dedicated team. We are looking for a professionally driven individual who possesses fundamental skills in fabrication, with a strong emphasis on tight measurement tolerances. While we are willing to train the right candidate, proven experience in carpentry, trade apprenticeship, metal fabrication, or understanding welding physical requirements is essential.

Additionally, you will be responsible for shop and project management, including planning and maintaining schedules. A background in plastics and FRP is a significant plus. Experience in a small to medium fabrication shop, along with skills in estimating, planning, distribution, and warehousing, is crucial. We seek a candidate with a proven history of hands-on management and the ability to develop a cohesive workgroup.

Some of the exciting things you will do in this role...

  • Weekly review of open fabrication for orders for planning and scheduling.
  • Consistent planning and execution of all on-site training and certification commitments.
  • Perform all calculations and measurements involved in fabrication and welding.
  • Interprets measurements, cuts and welds parts and materials according to design drawings.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, work orders, and related documentation to determine methods and sequence of operations and dimensional and finish specifications.
  • Performs welds according to welding tables. Hydro-tests as needed.
  • Weekly maintenance of tools and welding machinery.
  • Adherence to all quality standards and conducts quality control on fabrications.
  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe - Organizes and cleans warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times

A must...

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 2-3 years' of experience in production line like wood working, glass fabrication, plastic manufacturing, metal fabrication, sheet metal cutting etc. and other similar fields.
  • 2-3 years' of experience in production management, planning and scheduling.
  • Good measurement skills (Tape Measure, Rulers, calipers) with an ability to read metric and standard dimensions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills Mathematics - Geometry
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge and comfortable in basic Hand and Power Tools (Utility knives, hand routers, hand saw, etc.)
  • Hot plate welding - multi-miter bends and tees
  • Emphasis on producing high quality fabricated parts. Showing top notch craftsmanship in all aspects of job
